The Mining and Minerals Hall (MMH 2024), which will take place from 15 to 17 October in Seville, is about to become one of the most important events on the European mining scene. This fifth edition of the event, which has gained relevance year after year, being de facto the most important event in the sector in Europe, will bring together thousands of professionals from around the world at the Seville Conference and Exhibition Centre (FIBES), consolidating itself as a key platform for discussion on the future of mining. Organised by AMINER, the event will have more than 5,000 square metres of exhibition space, spread over three pavilions, where the latest technological innovations and sustainable projects in the industry will be presented.
The event has exceeded expectations in terms of participation, with 218 exhibitors confirmed, compared to 171 in the previous edition in 2022. This increase reflects not only the growing interest in mining, but also the essential role that this sector plays in the energy transition and the global economy. The event's thematic areas will range from critical raw materials and digitalisation to sustainability and new business opportunities, with a particular focus on the social and environmental role of mining.
A relevant aspect of this edition is the recently published European Critical Raw Materials Act (CRMA), which came into force in May 2024. This regulation aims to ensure a sustainable supply of strategic raw materials within the European Union, reducing dependence on international markets. MMH 2024 will provide a space to analyse the impacts of this law, its opportunities, and how mining in Europe, and in particular in Spain, can benefit from and adapt to these new regulatory frameworks.
Among the event's sponsors is Leapman. Leapman is a Project Management firm committed to optimising management and efficiency in the mining sector. Their participation underlines the company's interest in promoting practices that improve ESG aspects of the environment, sustainability and governance while maximizing the economic benefits of modern mining.
One of the most anticipated points on the agenda will be the presentation by Pedro Balsa, Managing Partner of Leapman, entitled "How better project management can boost capital returns." During this conference, Balsa will address how more efficient management of mining projects can significantly increase investment returns. The presentation will provide key strategies to optimize project planning, execution and control within the mining sector, while improving sustainability and minimizing risks.
Balsa's analysis promises to offer valuable insights into how mining companies can achieve greater efficiency in their operations, not only in terms of time and costs, but also in terms of social and environmental responsibility. This presentation will not only be relevant to executives and managers in the industry, but also to those interested in improving the competitiveness of their projects in the long term.
Leapman's participation and the presentation of its Managing Partner represent an example of the private sector's commitment to the evolution of mining towards a more sustainable and profitable model. This alignment between best management practices and technological innovation highlights the path that the mining industry must follow to ensure its competitiveness in the future.
Ultimately, MMH 2024 will not only be a meeting point to discuss the current challenges of the industry, but also a key platform to share technological and regulatory advances that will allow mining to continue to be a driver of economic growth. With the presence of world-class experts, a growing number of exhibitors and an agenda focused on sustainability and innovation, this event promises to exceed all expectations, positioning itself as an essential meeting for key players in the sector.
