Anticipate Risks and Protect Your Plant’s Operational Continuity
1. Introduction
In advanced manufacturing and process industries, logistics disruptions, technical failures and increasingly demanding regulations can threaten operations. Managing a plant means moving from reacting to problems to preventing them. In this programme, you will learn to identify, assess and address vulnerabilities in production and the supply chain, incorporate regulatory compliance and ESG risks into daily operations, and protect your plant’s continuity during a crisis.

2. Programme structure
Four live sessions (12 hours) plus independent work (4 hours).
Schedule: Wednesdays and Thursdays, 15:00–18:00.

What you will be able to do
- Understand structured risk management methods based on ISO 31000 and the Project Management Institute’s approach.
- Identify risks, threats and opportunities in your plant or project.
- Integrate regulatory compliance and ESG risks into daily operations.
- Prepare a risk register and define a probability and impact matrix.
- Manage risks throughout the project lifecycle, from quantitative analysis to monitoring and control.

5. How you will learn
- Learn. Explore risk management methods to minimise threats and maximise opportunities.
- Practise. Identify risks, carry out qualitative and quantitative analyses, and define response actions.
- Apply. Use templates you can adapt to your plant or project. You will also develop an operational risk matrix through a practical case study on risk management for a mining transport fleet.
On completion, you will receive a Leapman Academy Certificate of Achievement. To qualify, you must attend at least 80% of the course and achieve a final score of 70/100 or higher.
6. Instructors
- Pedro Balsa is Managing Director of Leapman. A mining engineer with an MBA, PMP® certification and PRINCE2® Practitioner qualification, he has more than 20 years of experience in mining, energy and engineering across 21 countries. He has worked as a risk manager, project manager and PMO director, with a focus on integrated risk governance. He is also an expert evaluator for Horizon Europe.
- Carlos J. Pampliega is Vice President of the PMI Madrid Spain Chapter. An architect, PMP®, Certified Associate in Risk Management and Professional Scrum Master, he teaches risk governance and integration. He has led more than 100 projects with PMideas and is Academic Director of the Project Management Programme at CEU San Pablo Business School.
